Cornicestone is our exterior or interior aggregate stone finish cast into our Fiberglass reinforced polymer (FRP) product. Cornicestone is a unique material that simulates cast or cut stone. It is a careful blend of cementitious minerals, aggregates, polymers and glass fibers. It is lightweight, strong and versatile stone finish that can be cast into difficult configurations and shapes such as cornices, columns and radius forms. Since it is a polymer based product, it is perfect for large profiles and areas where the look of massive stone is required, but is structurally and economically unfeasible.
Cornicestone is available in a variety of standard colors, but we can custom match a color to your specification using natural aggregates and pigments. We are often required to match natural stone, pre-cast concrete or masonry. Since we can cast parts into specific and exacting shapes, Cornicestone can be used to match the items that either too heavy or too expensive to make out of other building materials. We can cast it in a thin 3/16” thickness, the parts may appear to be cut stone, but are far less expensive to support and install.
Also consider DEC’s Echo-Stone material when you are concerned with the feel of real stone in addition to the appearance. Echo-Stone will match Cornicestone in appearance, but it is fabricated in our cementitious material. This allows for the use of Echo-Stone on public areas of the building to replicate the feel of stone and the use of Cornicestone on the upper elevations where weight and installation cost is a concern. This will achieve a universal appearance, but it will be less costly to install on the building. The combination of products is designed to match the best material for each application since each material has its advantages. This system approach provides a solution for your architectural vision.
