More Details About Project This resort project demanded a creative application where the architect wanted the look of a large log siding in a "log and chink" style. Typical construction standards would make this very difficult to install and support, but an authentic appearance and durability was critical. DEC fabricated the log panels by utilizing actual logs with a distressed grain as a master for the mold. We assembled the logs to create a panel configuration so that the FRP could be three dimensional but install like a flat panel. The panels were cast with the intentional irregularities in the logs with an integral wood grain. These panels were then stained and installed on the building. The "chinking" or large caulk beds were created with reveals in the panels and the use of real chinking caulk on the surface. Due to the excellent implimentation by the installing contractor, the effect was impressive. This is made even more valuable to the owner with the water resistance and durability of the FRP in this winter environment.
