More Details About Project This project consisted of large decorative bridge beams, access doors and median panels which were originally specified as precast concrete. FRP was selected because of its ability to match the exact appearance of the precast concrete material on the project but at a fraction of the weight. Due to the lightweight nature of FRP, the contractor was not only able to install it by hand as opposed to the use of heavy machinery, but was also able to use light gauge framing versus structural members required of the precast concrete. The FRP was then field finished with a multi-color Zoloatone paint. The final result speaks for itself as you can not see any difference in appearance between the precast concrete parts and the FRP. This was approximately a 7 year project which was completed in several different phases with three separate contractors.
